Thank you for your interest in taking a Waggly Tails pet sitter into your service!

Hereby a list of frequently asked questions:

What is the 'Meet-and-Greet' all about?
A: The Meet-and-Greet is a quick meeting for your potential sitter to meet the family at home. This is arranged in order for you to ensure that you are at ease with your sitter, and also to see how he/she gets along with the pets. The Meet-and-Greet further allows your sitter to make sure that he/she feels safe and comfortable at your home.
This is the perfect time to discuss your rules and expectations.
To assist with this, you will be asked to complete a “Pet Sitter Instruction Sheet”. This document serves as a one-stop rule sheet about everything your sitter needs to know. Your sitter will bring along a copy, and you can complete it during the Meet-and-Greet.
The Meet-and-Greet is all about discussion of the collection of the keys, and to make sure that you are happy with the service we will be providing. The Meet-and-Greet is a complimentary service; should you not feel comfortable with a sitter, you are free not to proceed any further. Similarly, we do not expect sitters to accept assignments at homes where they feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Should this be the case, we will try our best to send another suitable sitter to meet you.
In the Meet-and-Greet, we can discuss all the necessary things; feeding schedules, so that we can ensure that we try and stick to the same schedule your pets are used to. Please also notify us if there is a specific phrase/words that you use that the pets adhere to if it’s time to go outside to do their business, etc.
Do I pay extra for walks?
A: No you don’t as this is a service we offer extra at no cost to you during our pet sitting service.
We firmly believe an active dog is a healthy dog.
What areas do you as pet sitters cover?
A: We generally cover most of Centurion and parts of Pretoria-East. The areas are as follow:

  • Pretoria-East: Constantia Park, Elarduspark, Faerie Glen, Garsfontein, Menlyn, Monument Park and Waterkloof.
  • Centurion: Clubview, Eldoraigne, Irene, Lyttelton, Midstream, Pierre Van Ryneveld, Wierdapark and Zwartkops.

Fuel is calculated at a rate of R3.50/km for distances more than 10km in each direction between your home and Pierre van Ryneveld.

Do I pay more on public holidays or during festive seasons?
A: Yes, we add R50.00 for each public holiday including 24 and 31 of December.
Do I pay for my pet sitters petrol?
A: Yes you do. It is calculated into the distance travelled for visits or sleepovers.
To ensure that we remain within in your budget and you are not surprised by a massive bill the following is considered as travelling:

  • Travelling to, and back, once a day for sitters visiting once a day or staying over;
  • Travelling to, and back, twice a day for sitters visiting twice per day.

Should you live in an area not covered by Waggly Tails, fear not, we will still be of service to you. A travelling charge would be added for compensation of the sitter at R3.50 per km from Pierre van Ryneveld to your home.

Must I leave food for the sitter?
A: Food is entirely at your own discretion. But it would be nice if you could leave some food for the pet sitter. Please clearly communicate to your stay-over sitter what foodstuffs (if any) is for his/her use. Please also communicate if there won’t be anything so arrangements can be made.
You do not need to provide any food if you have booked once or twice a day visit; sitters might just have a cup of tea or so while spending time with the pets.
Please always provide adequate toilet paper, cleaning materials and other household items.
May I book my visits through a pet sitter directly?
A: No, All visits should be booked through our emailing system or calling (072 186 9519 .) You can email us at info@wagglytails.co.za

Do you board pets?
A: We do not board pets in our own homes. We do provide daily visits for your pets or we can stay overnight as well.
In the case that it might be a puppy, we might, however, make an exception to the rule.
Your pets will be much happier in their own home stress-free!
I have never used an overnight pet sitter before; can you tell me a little bit about this service?
A: We offer an overnight visit from 10 pm to 7 am, dependant on our daily routine and time of the year. Overnight stays give you peace of mind knowing that your home is being looked after as well as your pets getting lots of extra attention.
If your pets are used to sleeping in your bed with you, we are happy to have them sleep in the bed with us too!
We can add a dinnertime visit also and then later return again for the night.
To be fair to sitters; they are not expected to spend 24 hours a day at the house and may need to go to their own homes, work or to campus during the day. We do however try and be there for as long and as much as possible.
Can I be assured of the same pet sitter each time?
A: We prefer to have the continuity of the same pet sitter each time because the pets know them, and they know the pets. However, if the sitter is not available then a fully informed substitute sitter will be available for back up and you will always meet them beforehand.
What happens if I did not leave enough food for my pet(s)?
A: We will notify you that there is not enough food so that you are aware and perhaps you have more food in another place in your home.
If we do need to make a special trip that is out of our way to purchase food, we will gladly do so. We will, however, charge a fee for extra travelling if need be.
That is why we require a 70% deposit before you leave. This money is for emergency purposes such as running out of food or if there is a need to put down a deposit for veterinary care.
Once you are one of our valued customers, even a last minute booking is not a problem for us, but?
A: However, over Christmas, New Year and Easter this may not be possible as we are always fully booked. We will, however, do our best to try and accommodate your request.
Our team of Pet Sitters have been selected due to their passion for pets and their care. They are mature, honest and reliable and able to follow instructions and any additional requests you may have, such as watering the plants.
They display initiative and know how to deal with problems that might arise, and there is always backup if needed hence we receive countless requests for a repeat of the service.
Their work is regularly assessed to ensure they are meeting our high standards and providing the best possible service to our customer’s pets and will do everything possible to ensure you receive the same service at all times.
What will happen if you are away and your dog gets sick or injured?
A: With the Meet and Greet we request from you that the vet cards are left somewhere visible so that if needed we can take the card and go to the vet your pets are registered at.
If there is a payment payable to the vet, you will be liable for the account that will be invoiced to you.
You will also sign an Emergency Consent which forms part of the Terms and Conditions you sign during the Meet and Greet.
Are you insured and bonded?
A: No, but we are however a registered company (Waggly Tails (PTY) LTD (2017/113381/07), and are part-time pet sitters and full-time students or young working adults. We will always treat your property like it is our own.
